On the evening of Wednesday, February 20th, 2008, a Total Lunar Eclipse (TLE) will occur and is visible from Seattle.
This provides us a good opportunity to conduct an outreach event. We amateur astronomers of Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS)
will be sharing with the public the awe-inspiring views and the knowledge of this celestial event. SAS members are encouraged to
participate this event as volunteers. If you can bring a telescope to the event, that would be great.
If you do not have a telescope, you may still join and enjoy this event together with fellow members and the public!
Time: Wednesday, February 20th, 2008. This eclipse starts right after sunset at 5:43pm, and ends at 9:09pm.
Volunteers may make arrangement according to his/her schedule. If you are one of the "public", simply stop by at any time!
Location: 5970 W Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA 98103, near Green Lake Small Craft Center.
This is at the southwest corner of the lake. Telescopes will be set up north of the Small Craft Center, by the main loop path.
The coordinates are +47.67257, -122.3436, which you can paste into Google Map to find the exact location.
There are plenty of parking space nearby on both sides of Green Lake Way.
Weather: Please use your judgement on the weather conditions of the day. Unless it is totally cloudy or rainy,
at least some of us will be there.
If you have any questions, please email programs@seattleastro.org. See you there!
